Idaho 46 will close at Gooding railroad crossing Wednesday, Thursday
GOODING - Rebuilding a railroad crossing spanning three tracks will close a short section of Idaho 46 and divert traffic beginning Wednesday (July 1), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Union Pacific Railroad will reconstruct the highway crossing at the north end of Gooding. The roadway, also known as Main Street, will close between Second Avenue and Roosevelt Street during this work.
The crossing will close beginning Wednesday at about 9 a.m. and is expected to reopen to traffic by Thursday evening (July 2). Crews will replace concrete panels to improve the smoothness of the roadway.
Traffic will be detoured east of the crossing on Roosevelt Street and Second Avenue to Oregon Street. Drivers are encouraged to use other alternate routes to ease the traffic impact.
