Overnight restrictions on I-84 at Meridian Interchange begin tonight; ramp changes at Eagle start Thursday night
BOISE – Lanes will be restricted on Interstate 84 at the Meridian Road Interchange from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning tonight (Monday, July 13) as crews work on the underside of the bridge over the interstate, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. The nighttime lane restrictions on I-84 will continue through next week.
Changes also will be made at the Eagle Road Interchange as crews continue paving and rebuilding the outside lanes and shoulders of I-84 between Meridian and Eagle roads. Motorists entering eastbound I-84 from Eagle Road will begin using a temporary on-ramp Friday morning (July 17).
Lane restrictions will be in place on the ramp and eastbound I-84 near the Eagle Interchange Thursday night (July 16) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. as crews move traffic to the temporary ramp.
“Drivers can expect to see that the length and merging conditions at the Eagle Interchange on- and off-ramps will continue to be adjusted over the summer,” said ITD Project Engineer Jayme Coonce. “The interstate rehabilitation project is nearing the final phase, and construction on I-84 from Meridian to Five Mile is expected to be complete late this summer.”
On Friday and Saturday (July 17 and 18), crews will break up concrete on the outside lanes and shoulders of I-84 at the Eagle Interchange. This work will begin at 6 a.m. and will be very loud.
ITD is replacing the Meridian Interchange with a new Single-Point Urban Interchange to accommodate more traffic. The project includes rebuilding the outside lanes and shoulders of I-84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads, which have not been improved since the 1960s.
Construction will be complete late this year.
