Updated: Pavement preservation to begin in Nampa and Caldwell week of Aug. 2

BOISE—Work on the Interstate 84 business loop in Nampa and Caldwell to place a microseal will begin the week of Aug. 2. This work will take about five weeks to complete. The project will extend the life of the existing pavement and provide a smoother driving surface.

Construction will occur in the following five work areas:
-I-84 junction to Idaho 19 junction
-Idaho 19 to Linden Street
-Linden Street to Karcher Road
-Karcher Road to N. Yale Street
-Grant Street to I-84 junction

The I-84 business loop (Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard and Garrity Boulevard) will remain open during construction, with work scheduled from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday to minimize impacts to traffic. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the work zone overnight, with all lanes reopened during daytime hours. Advanced signage will alert motorists to locations of lane reductions.

Intermountain Slurry Seal is the project contractor. The contract amount is $1.9 million.

ITD encourages drivers to slow down and pay attention in the work zone. For updated road information, visit 511.idaho.gov.
