Bridge deck preservation and maintenance to begin at Nampa's interchange 33 in early August

BOISE—Work to maintain and preserve the deck surface on three bridge structures at interchange 33 in Nampa begins the week of Aug. 2. The work will take approximately one month to complete. The project will extend the life of the existing deck surface.

Construction will occur on the Interstate 84 interchange 33 bridge deck, and to the south at the Railroad and Indian Creek bridges weekdays during daytime and overnight hours. Two lanes of traffic will be open in each direction through the work zone. Two free-running, right-turn lanes (one at the I-84 eastbound off-ramp and the other at the intersection of Idaho 55) will be closed temporarily during construction.

Motorists should expect heavy congestion in this work zone during the project and are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

Trucks: A detour will be in place when the free-running, right-turn lanes are closed at the eastbound interchange 33 on-ramp. Posted signs will guide trucks to Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard and around to interchange 35.

Suggested alternate routes for all motorists: For motorists that want to access I-84 from the south side of the 33 interchange, they should travel either east or west on Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard and access either interchanges 29 or 35 in Nampa and Caldwell. For motorists that want to access I-84 from the north side of the 33 interchange, they should travel along Karcher Connector to Northside Boulevard and use the 35 interchange.

Advanced signage will alert all drivers to lane closures and detour routes.

All motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, give yourself extra time, and check 511.idaho.gov for updated road information.

Braun-Jensen Inc., of Payette, is the project contractor. The contract amount is $434,000.
