Closure, detour of U.S. 93 at Shoshone railroad crossing expected Tuesday
SHOSHONE – U.S. 93 will be closed to traffic Tuesday (July 21) as work on the railroad crossing at the main intersection in the center of Shoshone finishes, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Traffic will be detoured one block to the west.
Union Pacific Railroad is reconstructing the crossing to replace railroad ties and loose concrete pads, which also will improve the smoothness of the roadway. The road, also known as Greenwood Street, will be closed between North Rail Street and South Rail Street.
The crossing, which spans three tracks, will close beginning at approximately 7 a.m. and is expected to reopen to traffic by Tuesday evening.
All traffic will be detoured to the Apple Street crossing, one block west of the main crossing.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to ease the traffic impact. Short delays can be expected.
