UPDATE: Overnight paving closures rescheduled to Wednesday at I-84 Gowen Interchange this week
BOISE – Due to an unexpected failure at the asphalt plant this afternoon, paving activities that were scheduled tonight have been canceled. Overnight closures at the I-84 Gowen Interchange and Gowen Road are rescheduled to begin Wednesday night (Aug. 5), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.
Throughout the week, crews will be paving the north side of Gowen Road between Federal Way and Eisenman Road. Below is an updated schedule of upcoming traffic impacts. Click here for a map.
- The north side of the intersection at Gowen Road and Eisenman
Road will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday night (Aug. 5) as crews prepare for paving. The north side of the intersection will be flagged Friday night (Aug. 7) during
paving, and drivers can expect short delays.
- Crews will excavate the intersection on Wednesday night and pave on Friday night. Drivers will cross a temporary gravel surface Thursday morning through Friday evening.
- Paving at the north side of the intersection will be complete by Saturday morning.
- The I-84 westbound on-ramp at the Gowen Interchange will be closed from
8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday night
(Aug. 6). The intersection of Gowen Road
and the westbound on-ramp will be flagged Friday night (Aug. 7) during
paving, and drivers can expect short delays.
- During the overnight closure on Thursday night, motorists will be detoured to access westbound I-84 from the Broadway Avenue Interchange via Federal Way.
- Crews will excavate the on-ramp on Thursday night and pave the ramp on Friday night. Motorists can expect to cross a temporary gravel surface when entering the westbound on-ramp during the day on Friday.
- Paving at the westbound on-ramp will be complete by Saturday morning.
- Lane closures will be in place on Gowen Road between Federal Way and Eisenman Road
from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday
nights (Aug 8 and 9).
- Flaggers will direct traffic as crews work overnight to finish paving the north side of this section of Gowen Road.
ITD is rebuilding Gowen Road from Federal Way to S. Eisenman Road as part of the I-84, Gowen Interchange Project. Gowen Road is being widened to two lanes in both directions, with a third lane located on the eastbound side.
