Public invited to comment on plans for bridge, roadway improvements in Marsing
MARSING – The Idaho Transportation Department is hosting an open house next week to present plans for replacing the Snake River Bridge in Marsing and rebuilding Idaho 55 between Marsing and the U.S. 95 junction.
The open house is Thursday, Aug. 27, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Marsing (126 S. 2nd Ave. W). The public is invited to view and comment on preliminary design plans for the new bridge and proposed roadway improvements.
The Snake River Bridge in Marsing was built in 1955 and is the primary river crossing in this area. Approximately 6,500 cars cross the bridge every day. It has reached the end of its design life and needs to be replaced.
The project is currently in the design stage and construction is expected to begin in 2017.
As a part of the project, the transportation department will be improving Idaho 55 between the Snake River Bridge and the U.S. 95 junction. The improvements to Idaho 55 include updating and adding Americans with Disabilities Act ramps and reconfiguring lanes in Marsing to improve safety.
