U.S. 93 flyover near Twin Falls to open for Labor Day travel

TWIN FALLS – Eastbound traffic approaching U.S. 93 from Filer on 4100 North Road can use the U.S. 93 flyover during the Labor Day weekend. The bridge will close for a couple days after the holiday to finish work on the structure.

Reconstructing the bridge-approach slabs and roadway is nearly finished. The final work is not scheduled to take place until Sept. 8, but the construction area will be safe for travel and may open to traffic as soon as Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 2). The bridge is expected to remain open until the morning of Sept. 8.

The final procedure involves applying a concrete sealant, which will need cure time. This operation will require the bridge to be closed for as long as two days. All work should be complete and the bridge open to traffic by Sept. 10.

While the bridge is closed, the detour will be in effect one mile south on 2400 East Road to 4000 North Road. Traffic is encouraged to use an alternate route.

The project required the concrete approach slabs and adjoining roadway to be removed, graded smooth and replaced to create a smoother driving surface.

The bridgework is part of a $1.5 million regional bridge-repair contract being completed by Cannon Builders Inc., of Blackfoot.
