Daytime traffic impacts on Broadway Avenue at I-84 as crews apply seal coat Thursday and early next week (Sept. 3, 8 and 9)

BOISE – The Idaho Transportation Department will apply a seal coat on Broadway Avenue near Interstate 84 late this week and into early next. The protective surface is being applied to extend the life of asphalt recently placed on Broadway Avenue between the New York Canal and TA Travel Center. This work is part of the final phase of building the new I-84, Broadway Interchange.

The seal-coat application on Broadway Avenue will occur Sept. 3, 8 and 9. Work will be suspended Sept. 4-7 for the Labor Day weekend. This work is weather dependent and may be adjusted if temperatures are inclement.

During work days, the traffic signal at the I-84 Broadway Interchange will be turned off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flaggers will control traffic through the interchange, and I-84 on- and off-ramps at Broadway Avenue will be intermittently closed. Click here for a map of the ramp closures.

Drivers will be traveling across loose gravel while this work is underway.

During the seal coat application, traffic on Broadway Avenue will be shifted several times and lanes will be intermittently restricted. ITD urges motorists to slow down and pay attention.

Signs will be placed on Broadway Avenue to alert drivers of the seal-coat work ahead.

The newly constructed I-84 Broadway Interchange will be striped into its final configuration by late September.
