Overnight traffic impacts on Gowen Road this week as crews pave from Eisenman Road to Federal Way

BOISE – Drivers should plan for delays as Gowen Road near Interstate 84 is paved this week. Between Federal Way and Eisenman Road, signals will be turned off at night, flaggers will direct traffic and I-84 on- and off-ramps will be intermittently closed.

Below is an overview of what to expect tonight through Saturday night (Sept. 9-12). All traffic impacts will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays, and to 7 a.m. weekends. Detour routes will be clearly marked when the I-84 ramps are intermittently closed.

• Wednesday night (Sept. 9): The I-84 eastbound off-ramp at the Gowen Interchange will be closed intermittently.
• Thursday night (Sept. 10): Gowen Road will be closed between the I-84 westbound ramps and the intersection of Federal Way and Gowen Road. Motorists will be detoured around the closure using Federal Way and Eisenman Road. In addition, the signal at Gowen Road and Federal Way will be turned off overnight and flaggers will control traffic through the intersection.
• Friday night (Sept. 11): The signal will be turned off at Gowen Road and Federal Way, and flaggers will control traffic through the intersection.
• Saturday night (Sept. 12): Flaggers will direct traffic where the I-84 east- and westbound ramps intersect with Gowen Road. All of the I-84 on- and off-ramps at the Gowen Interchange will be intermittently closed overnight.

Crews will stripe Gowen Road into the final configuration once paving is complete. ITD anticipates Gowen Road will be fully open by late September.

This work is part of the final phase of the I-84, Gowen Interchange replacement project.
