New traffic pattern on Gowen Road begins tomorrow morning (Sept. 22); will impact right turn towards Micron

BOISE--Traffic on Gowen Road will be shifted tonight (Sept. 21) between Federal Way and the Interstate 84 eastbound ramps.

The new traffic pattern will result in two significant changes:

• Lane restrictions will require drivers turning right from Gowen Road onto Federal Way, heading towards Micron, to get in the turn lane early. The lane restrictions will be in place through Saturday morning (Sept. 26).
• Drivers will only be able to turn right from the I-84 westbound off-ramp onto Gowen Road. No left-turns will be permitted through November as crews install a new traffic signal at this intersection. ITD encourages drivers who need to access Gowen Road west of the interchange to use the Eisenman exit.

ITD anticipates the signal at Gowen Road and the I-84 westbound ramps will be activated by the end of November.

ITD is rebuilding Gowen Road from Federal Way to S. Eisenman Road as part of the I-84, Gowen Interchange Project. Gowen Road is being widened to two through lanes in both directions, with a third lane on the eastbound side. The intersection of Gowen Road and Federal Way is also being improved to allow for a smoother, more efficient flow of traffic.

Construction updates will be sent via email and posted on the project website at www.itd.idaho.gov/GowenInterchange. To sign up for construction updates, contact ITD at comments@itd.idaho.gov, visit the project website or call (208) 334-8005.
