Idaho 55 closed between McCall and New Meadows on Wednesday (Oct. 21) for blasting

BOISE– Rock blasting is scheduled for Wednesday evening (Oct. 21) on Idaho 55 north of McCall.

Blasting will require Idaho 55 to be fully closed between McCall and New Meadows from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Blasting previously scheduled for Monday evening (Oct. 19) has been canceled. Idaho 55 will be open Monday night as a result of this adjustment to the work schedule.

Message boards on Idaho 55 at each end of the work zone will notify drivers of upcoming closures related to blasting.

The schedule for this work is dependent upon weather and may be adjusted if conditions are inclement.

ITD is blasting to excavate rock from the mountainside of a curve on the section of Idaho 55 known as Goose Creek Grade. Removing rock will allow crews to lengthen the turning radius and improve visibility at this curve. The work is part of ITD’s project to improve the alignment of four curves on Goose Creek Grade.

ITD asks drivers to plan up to three hours of extra time when traveling between McCall and New Meadows during this work.

To sign up for email updates about construction on Goose Creek Grade, contact ITD at comments@itd.idaho.gov, visit the project website at www.itd.idaho.gov/Projects/D3/GooseCreekGrade or call (208) 334-8938.

Knife River, of Boise, is the contractor for this highway-improvement project.
