Idaho 55 closed between McCall and New Meadows Wednesday (Oct. 28) for blasting
MCCALL – Rock blasting will require a full closure of Idaho 55 between McCall and New Meadows on Wednesday evening (Oct. 28). The closure will be in place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The schedule for blasting is dependent upon weather. If conditions are inclement, this work will be rescheduled.
This is the third round of blasting to excavate rock from a curve on the section of Idaho 55 known as Goose Creek Grade. Rock is being removed from the mountainside to improve visibility and lengthen the turning radius at this curve.
Message boards will be placed on Idaho 55 at each end of the work zone to notify drivers of upcoming closures related to blasting.
Drivers are encouraged to plan up to three hours of extra time when traveling between McCall and New Meadows on Wednesday evening.
ITD is widening the shoulders, installing rock-fall protection and improving the alignment of four curves on Goose Creek Grade. Construction is expected to be complete early next year.
