Construction to begin on two Moscow intersections, U.S. 95 (Washington Street)
(Editor's note: ITD will be happy to provide a map for your use that shows the planned detour routes. It is available in pdf form from Ted Sharpe at the ITD office in Lewiston. We would appreciate your including it in a news story about this project because of the impact on local and through traffic. You may contact Ted at 799-4230 to request a map. Thank you.)

LEWISTON - Construction is scheduled to begin Monday (July 31) on two major intersections and a segment of U.S. 95 in the Moscow city core, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Initial work will rebuild intersections of U.S. 95 also known locally as Washington Street at Sixth Street and Third Street. Crews will remove the existing roadway at both intersections and replace it with jointed concrete pavement that has a longer lifespan, requires less maintenance and can accommodate heavier vehicles.

The western halves of both intersections will be reconstructed first, followed by work on the eastern halves. Marked detours will direct motorists around both intersections during reconstruction, which should be complete in approximately five weeks.

Resurfacing of Washington Street from Eighth Street to First Street will follow immediately. Construction crews anticipate working 12-hour shifts, Mondays through Saturdays.

Parking will not be permitted on the west side of Washington Street, from Eighth Street to First Street during the resurfacing project, and northbound traffic will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes. Because the west sides of the Third Street and Sixth Street intersections will be closed, traffic will be routed around the project.

A map that shows active detours will be available for public review on the first floor of Moscow City Hall throughout the project. Public meetings will be held on Mondays at 11 a.m. on the second floor of the City Hall to provide information about the process.

Project information also will be available from ITD resident engineer Joe Schacher in Lewiston (208) 799-5090.
