New signal on Gowen Road at Interstate 84 will be turned on by Wednesday morning (Nov. 18)

BOISE – A new traffic signal on Gowen Road at Interstate 84 will begin operating by Wednesday morning’s commute (Nov. 18). The signal, located at the intersection of Gowen Road and the I-84 westbound ramps, is being added to improve the flow of traffic through the newly constructed Gowen Interchange.

On Tuesday night (Nov. 17), Gowen Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction with flaggers while crews activate the new signal. The lane restrictions will be in place between Federal Way and Eisenman Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Installation of this signal is part of the final phase of rebuilding Gowen Road and the I-84 Gowen Interchange.

Improvements have included widening Gowen Road to five lanes, building new on- and off-ramps to I-84, improving turn lanes on Gowen Road, Federal Way, and Eisenman Road, and replacing the bridges over I-84.

Please remember to slow down, pay attention in the construction zone and be aware of the safety of construction workers. Your patience is appreciated as ITD works on these improvements.
