Interstate 84 will open to four lanes at Meridian Interchange Tuesday morning (Nov. 24)

MERIDIAN--Early next week, the Idaho Transportation Department will finish widening and rebuilding Interstate 84 at the Meridian Interchange. By Tuesday morning, (Nov. 24) four lanes will be open on both the eastbound and westbound sides of I-84.

“The completion of these improvements is a significant milestone for the valley’s transportation system,” said ITD Project Engineer Jayme Coonce. “ITD is proud of the efforts the contractor and our team have put into completing this work, which allows us to reopen this critical stretch of I-84 before the holidays.”

On Sunday and Monday (Nov. 22 and 23), crews will work overnight to stripe the new lanes, move guardrail and shift traffic into the final configuration. Lane restrictions will be in place on I-84 under the Meridian Interchange during this work.

Lanes will be restricted on eastbound I-84 Sunday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and on westbound I-84 Monday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The schedule for this work is dependent on weather and may be adjusted if conditions are inclement.
