Lane restrictions begin Monday morning (Nov. 23) on southbound Broadway Avenue between University and Belmont
BOISE – Next week, lanes will be closed on southbound Broadway Avenue near Boise State University as crews relocate utilities. The work is being done in preparation for removing and replacing the Broadway Avenue bridge over the Boise River.
Broadway Avenue will be restricted to one lane between University Drive and Belmont Street from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 23). Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic through the intersection of University Drive and Broadway while crews pave the trench left from utility work. The sidewalk will remain open.
Signs will be placed along Broadway Avenue to notify drivers of lane restrictions.

Utility work for the upcoming replacement of the Broadway Bridge began several months ago and will continue through late this year. Construction to remove and rebuild the bridge will begin in early January 2016.
The Broadway Bridge is being replaced because the existing structure does not meet today’s standards. When complete, the new Broadway Bridge will include more lanes for traffic, wider sidewalks, bicycle lanes and improved access to the Greenbelt.
