Nighttime noise and restrictions on I-84, Meridian to Locust Grove, this week (Nov. 30-Dec. 6)

MERIDIAN – Crews will be grinding concrete for two nights on Interstate 84 between the Locust Grove overpass and Meridian Road Interchange. This work is very noisy.

Grinding will occur on Wednesday and Thursday nights (Dec. 2 and 3). During this work, overnight lane restrictions and speed-limit reductions will be in place on eastbound I-84 between Meridian and Locust Grove roads.

Nighttime work hours are from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Neighbors can anticipate high levels of noise at night, as the grinding of concrete is very loud. The grinding work is being done at night in order to keep four lanes open in both directions on I-84 during the day.

The work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if necessary.

In addition, overnight lane restrictions on I-84 will be in place throughout the week to complete lighting, signs and other final construction activities. Westbound I-84 was returned to four lanes this morning.

This work is part of the final phase of rebuilding the outside lanes and shoulders of I-84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads. Construction on I-84 and at the Meridian Interchange is expected to be complete by mid-December.
