Planned power outage at I-84/U.S. 93 junction Tuesday morning (Dec. 8)

SHOSHONE – Drivers are encouraged to use caution as a planned power outage in south-central Jerome County, near the junction of Interstate 84 and U.S. 93, may affect two traffic signals in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Dec. 8.

The planned power outage, scheduled by Idaho Power, will affect highway lighting between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The traffic signals at the exit/entrance ramps at the junction are expected to remain active with backup battery power, but all other highway lighting in the area will be turned off.

ITD personnel will be prepared to place stop signs at the two signalized intersections if there is a failure with the battery system.

Drivers are reminded that signalized intersections revert to a four-way stop whenever a power failure occurs. ITD encourages drivers to use extra caution and watch for all crossing traffic.
