Work begins along detour routes for the Broadway Bridge replacement project
BOISE – Over the next couple of weeks (Dec. 22 through Jan. 3, 2016), construction crews will be putting in place the detour routes for the Broadway Bridge replacement project.
Motorists
Construction crews will be putting in place the Parkcenter Boulevard Bridge detour route for motorists. Crews will shift traffic, restripe areas of the roadway, install signs and work on signals. Work will take place at Beacon Street, Parkcenter Boulevard, Park Boulevard, Front Street and Myrtle Street. Some lane restrictions may be necessary for this work.
Greenbelt
The south side of the Greenbelt will be temporarily detoured beginning Monday, Dec. 28 through Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016. The temporary detour will allow utility companies to move and relocate utilities. The detour route will be clearly marked. The full Greenbelt detour will be put in place by the night of Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016.

The Idaho Transportation Department plans to close the Broadway Bridge on Monday, January 4, 2016. Broadway Avenue will be completely closed between Cesar Chavez Lane and Myrtle Street. Construction is anticipated to be complete in fall 2016.
The existing Broadway Bridge needs to be replaced to meet today’s design standards, as well as current and future traffic volumes. When complete, it will include more lanes for traffic, wider sidewalks, bicycle lanes and improved access to the Greenbelt.
