Pile driving begins Wednesday at the Broadway Avenue Bridge in east Boise
BOISE – Pile driving at the Broadway Avenue Bridge begins Wednesday (Jan. 13). Over the next four to six weeks, crews will hammer steel piles into the ground to support the new bridge being built over the Boise River.
Pile driving will occur seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Drivers and surrounding neighbors will hear high noise volumes during this work, as pile driving is loud.
The piles will be mounted to a crane and hammered deep into
the ground. To support the foundation of the new Broadway Bridge, 168 large
steel piles are being driven deep into the river bed. Each pile is about 65 feet
long.
ITD reminds drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to leave early, know your route and plan extra time for travel.
