Seal coat project on Idaho 26 between Bliss and Gooding starts Wednesday

SHOSHONE - A 10-mile stretch of Idaho 26 between Bliss and Gooding (mileposts 139-149) will be seal-coated beginning Wednesday (June 15), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Flaggers and pilot cars will direct motorists through the work zone. Delays of 10-15 minutes can be expected. The speed limit on Idaho 26 will be reduced in some sections, depending on surface conditions. Motorists are reminded to drive slowly and follow other vehicles at a safe distance to reduce the risk of windshield damage.
Crews will work weekdays; although, occasional work may be necessary on weekends due to inclement weather.

A seal coat protects the existing road from water damage, prolongs its life and provides better traction. Crews will first apply a layer of asphalt to the roadway, followed by a layer of gravel.

Work is expected to be complete by the end of June. Kloepfer, Inc. of Paul, Idaho is the contractor for this project.
