Public invited to view preliminary design March 16 for the U.S. 93, 200 South Intersection Project

JEROME – The public is invited to review and comment on proposed changes to U.S. 93 near the 200 South Road intersection Wednesday, March 16 at an open house meeting presented by the Idaho Transportation Department.

The open house will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Meeting Room in the Idaho Department of Fish and Game Regional office at 316 South U.S. 93. Those interested may drop in anytime during the meeting to view preliminary designs, project illustrations and related information. Representatives from ITD and the design team will be on hand to answer questions and gather input.

Construction is tentatively planned to start in fall 2018, beginning with changes to the irrigation systems, followed by roadway work in 2019.

The preliminary design will follow concepts outlined in the 2008 Environmental Assessment for U.S. 93 between I-84 and Idaho 25. The projects will address safety at the intersection and will be part of corridor improvements to meet current and future needs for roadway capacity, commercial and private access, and increasing traffic volumes.

Specific improvements to U.S. 93 for this project include expansion of the roadway to include two northbound and two southbound lanes, and widened shoulders from 1/2-mile north to 1/2-mile south of 200 South Road. The project will also include left-turn and right-turn bays on U.S. 93 at 200 South. Improvements to the 200 South Road at the U.S. 93 intersection include addition of a left-turn lane and widened shoulders.

For more information on the open house and the project, please contact Mike Scott, ITD project manager at 208-886-7806 or mike.scott@itd.idaho.gov.
