Work to improve pedestrian ramps in Priest River, Sandpoint begin soon
COEUR d'ALENE - Work to upgrade pedestrian ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards is slated to begin in Priest River starting April 25 and in Sandpoint May 5. The work will improve safety in the cities.

Surveying work for the Priest River jobs is set to begin today (Thursday, April 14).  Along with the ADA ramp work, the project will include upgrading traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Idaho 2 and Idaho 57, and replacing pavement in the intersection. The work is slated to finish by late May. Crews are installing a crosswalk indicator and push button to engage the walk signal. The existing pavement is being widened to improve the turning radius for vehicles.

Sandpoint’s work, along Idaho 2, is expected to be complete by early July. No lane restrictions are planned in conjunction with this project.

Earthworks Northwest Inc., of Sandpoint, is the contractor for the $157,000 Sandpoint ramp project. Interstate Concrete & Asphalt, also of Sandpoint, is the contractor on the $563,000 Priest River work.
