Pavement restoration of U.S. 20/26 from Meridian to Garden City begins in June

BOISE—Six and a half miles of existing pavement will be restored on U.S. 20/26 from Meridian to Garden City starting in June using new revenue from the general fund surplus.

The mill and inlay project will provide for a smoother driving surface and extend the life of the pavement on U.S 20/26 from Locust Grove in Meridian to the junction of I-184 (Connector) in Garden City. Work will begin in early June and wrap up in late August.

Work will occur during overnight hours between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Speed reductions will also be posted in segments where the speed limit is 35 miles per hour or higher. Drivers are encouraged to slow down and pay attention when driving through the work zone. Paving will begin in Meridian and be completed in three segments to minimize impacts to the traveling public as it moves east through Garden City.

Idaho Materials Construction is the general contractor. The project cost is $2.3 million.

The Idaho Transportation Board selected 17 road and bridge projects across Idaho in December 2015 for maintenance and repair work. The projects are all funded by the $54.1 million in general fund surplus provided by the Idaho Legislature last year.
