UPDATE: Final work on Perrine Bridge repair, funded by new revenue, resumes Sunday evening
TWIN FALLS – Repair and roadway resurfacing to the Perrine Bridge, a project started last August and halted due to winter weather, will resume Sunday evening (May 8). Work should be completed by the end of the month.
The majority of traffic-impacting activities will take place overnight, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open at all times. Drivers can expect a reduced speed limit tp 35 mph through the project limits.
The roadway surface work involves replacing a short section of concrete driving surface that did not properly bond to the underlying concrete deck. The contractor will also complete patch-and-repair of concrete curbing and walls.
Work was halted in mid-November due to cold weather. The contractor completed repair of the pedestrian railing, upgraded overhead lighting, replaced driving surface joint seals, replaced broken bolts, cleaned debris and painted at various locations, and replaced gusset and access cover plates.
The state-funded $2.3 million project is under contract with Cannon Builders Inc., of Blackfoot.
The Perrine Bridge project is one of 27 projects advanced by the Idaho Transportation Board in 2015 using funds allocated by the Idaho Legislature in the state’s first transportation-revenue increase in nearly two decades. Doing so has enabled the advancement of dozens of other critically needed road and bridge projects statewide in the future.
