Greenbelt will close on south side of Boise River next to Broadway Bridge construction zone today

BOISE –Beginning today, the Greenbelt on the south side of the Boise River will be fully closed from west of Broadway Avenue to the Parkcenter Bridge. This section of the Greenbelt in downtown Boise will remain closed to all Greenbelt users through the summer.

To cross the Boise River, pedestrians and cyclists will use the Bay Brook Bridge and Friendship Bridge. Signs will be placed along the Greenbelt to help guide and notify users of adjustments to the detour route around the Broadway Bridge construction zone.

The closure will allow crews to create a larger work zone for upcoming construction activities and keep the project on schedule.

The Broadway Bridge is being rebuilt because the existing structure is approximately 60 years old and does not meet today’s standards. The project also includes making roadway improvements to Broadway Avenue from University Drive to Front Street and enhancing connectivity to the Greenbelt.

Knife River Corp. is the construction contractor for the Broadway Avenue Bridge Replacement Project. Construction is expected to be complete late this year.
