Seal coat work on Interstate 84 west of Caldwell begins next week, drivers urged to slow down and pay attention

BOISE—Work to place a seal coat on westbound Interstate 84 between the Oregon state line and the Black Canyon Interchange (Exit 13) will begin May 31 (Tuesday).

So that crews can safely work on the interstate, the westbound lanes of traffic will cross over to eastbound I-84 at the state line through the work zone.  A two-lane, two-way traffic configuration will be in place during construction.

Posted signs will indicate where the crossover occurs. The speed limit will also be reduced through this corridor. Work is expected to last one week.

The westbound on-and off-ramps for the interchange at Exit 9 (to Idaho 30) will be closed during construction. Motorists that need to access that interchange will be detoured at Exit 3 or 13.

Seal coating extends the life of a roadway and improves traction for winter driving safety.

HK Contractors is the general contractor. The project cost is $799,699.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and pay attention in the work zone.
