Additional lane closure will affect Myrtle Street near Broadway Bridge construction zone beginning Tuesday

BOISE – On Tuesday morning, May 31, the Idaho Transportation Department will close an additional lane on Myrtle Street between Avenue A and Broadway Avenue. The additional lane will be closed until mid-June. Two lanes will be open on Myrtle Street.

ITD will close the far left lane at the intersection next to Walgreens. One through lane and one left/through lane will remain open on Myrtle Street.  The lane restrictions are a part of construction for the new Broadway Avenue Bridge over the Boise River. Restrictions are necessary for crews to build Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) pedestrian crossings at the north corners of the Broadway and Myrtle intersection.

“With additional lane restrictions on Myrtle, motorists should plan extra time when traveling through the construction area” said Daris Bruce, ITD resident engineer.  “Motorists should plan ahead for additional traffic impacts this summer when ITD begins to repave Broadway Avenue between Front and Myrtle streets.”

The Broadway Avenue Bridge is being replaced to meet today’s design standards, as well as current and future traffic volumes. When complete, the new Broadway Bridge will include more lanes for traffic, wider sidewalks, bicycle lanes and improved access to the Greenbelt.
