Succor Creek Bridge replacement, funded with new revenue, begins mid-June in Homedale
BOISE—Replacement of the Succor Creek Bridge on Idaho 19 in Homedale, funded through general fund surplus revenue, will begin in mid-June.
The current bridge is 49 years old and has reached the end of its structural and design life. There are more than 2,000 trips per day on this bridge and it is estimated traffic utilizing the bridge will increase steadily.
Work will include its removal and construction of a new clear-span bridge with bike and pedestrian lanes. During construction, the bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic, with traffic signals placed on either end of the structure to help guide motorists across. Drivers should anticipate minor delays. Work will occur during daytime hours.
The project is scheduled to wrap up in mid-2017.
Knife River is the general contractor. The project cost is $2.9 million.
Drivers are asked to slow down and pay attention through the work zone.
In December 2015, the Idaho Transportation Board selected road and bridge projects for maintenance and repair work as part of the Idaho Transportation Department’s Strategic Initiatives Program (SIP), authorized by the Idaho Legislature. This bridge replacement is one of those projects using funds allocated by the Idaho Legislature in the state’s first transportation-revenue increase in nearly two decades.
