Shoulder and overlay work planned for section of Idaho 11 north of Weippe, starting June 6

BOISE -- Work to widen the shoulder and overlay approximately five miles of Idaho 11 from just north of Weippe to Timberline High School (milepost 18.6 to 23.1) begins Monday, June 6. The road was originally constructed in 1935.

The project, which should improve safety and provide for a smoother ride, will be constructed in four main phases.

The first phase involves installing culverts, lasting from June 6 to June 12. The second phase is the milling process, which will last from June 20 to June 26. The third phase is the production-paving process, which will last from June 28 to July 5. The final phase is the installation of monument cases, which will begin July 11 and last until July 21.

The contractor is planning to work 10 hours every weekday. Work will begin at 7 a.m.

A one-lane closure should be expected while the culverts are being replaced.

Flaggers and pilot cars will guide traffic through the work zones. Work zones will be limited to two miles.

Valley Paving & Asphalt Inc. is the prime contractor on the project. The cost of the project is $1.1 million.
