Overnight lane closures, flagging on Broadway Avenue at Myrtle and Front this weekend (June 23-26)

BOISE – Broadway Avenue will be restricted to one lane in each direction between Myrtle and Front streets beginning Thursday night. The lane closures on Broadway Avenue will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday through Sunday (June 23-26). Crews will be working on Broadway Avenue, just north of the Boise River, to dig trenches for underground utilities.

As part of this work, the signals on Broadway Avenue at Front and Myrtle streets will be turned off overnight Thursday through Sunday. Flaggers will direct traffic through the Front and Myrtle intersections when signals are not operating.

The overnight lane restrictions will allow crews to locate electrical conduits underneath the roadway of Broadway Avenue. The conduits are part of new pedestrian signals being installed on Broadway Avenue at the Front and Myrtle intersections. The new signals will begin operating in late summer.

This work is part of ITD’s Broadway Bridge Replacement Project, which encompasses rebuilding Broadway Avenue between University Drive and Front Street.

ITD reminds drivers to leave early and plan extra time for travel as summer roadwork gears up on Broadway Avenue. In July, crews will pave and improve Broadway Avenue between Myrtle and Front Streets.

Drivers can expect to see lane closures, heavy equipment and increased activity on Broadway Avenue as roadwork progresses into mid-summer.
