Update: Speed limit to be temporarily reduced on U.S. 20/26 (Chinden Blvd) in Boise as pavement restoration continues
BOISE--The speed limit on U.S. 20/26 (Chinden Blvd) between Locust Grove and Cloverdale will be reduced to 35 mph both east and westbound as crews complete milling and inlay improvements on the road's surface.
The speed-limit reduction is temporary through next week, and implemented to enhance safety for motorists that travel on the roadway which is uneven, due to exposed grinding work.
When complete, the mill-and-inlay project will provide for a smoother driving surface and extend the life of the pavement on Chinden from Locust Grove in Meridian to the junction of I-184 (Connector) in Garden City.
Work began in early June and will wrap up in late August.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down and pay attention when driving through the work zone.
Idaho Materials Construction is the general contractor. The project cost is $2.3 million.
This project is one of 17 across the state that are funded by general surplus revenue provided by the Idaho Legislature in 2015. The Idaho Transportation Board selected each based on maintenance and repair needs.
