Plan ahead for traffic impacts on Broadway Avenue as paving begins next weekend (July 8-11)
BOISE – In July, the Idaho Transportation Department will pave Broadway Avenue between University Drive and Front Street. The first phase of paving will occur next weekend at the Myrtle Street and University Drive intersections. Work will begin Friday night (July 8) at 8 p.m. and continue until 6 a.m. Monday morning (July 11).
Next weekend, drivers should plan ahead for the following traffic impacts:
- Lanes will restricted 24/7 on Broadway Avenue at University Drive and Myrtle Street. Click here for a map of the traffic pattern.
- Flaggers will direct traffic at Myrtle Street and University Drive. The signal at Myrtle Street will be turned off day and night.
- The Greenbelt detour at the Myrtle/Broadway intersection will be temporarily shifted south (toward the Boise River).
This work is part of the Broadway Bridge Replacement Project. To date, crews have completed the foundation of the new Broadway Bridge and are currently building the deck. Construction of the bridge will continue through the summer, as well as roadway improvements to Broadway Avenue.

Crews will pave Broadway Avenue between Front and Myrtle streets later in July. Traffic patterns in this area will be changing every weekend to accommodate this work. Each week in July, new maps of upcoming lane restrictions related to paving on Broadway Avenue will be posted at www.itd.idaho.gov/BroadwayBridge.
