Alternate routes recommended during work on Sunnyside and Yellowstone
RIGBY - Sunnyside Road at Yellowstone Highway (U.S. 26/I-15B) in Idaho Falls will be closed for a week starting at noon Sunday (Aug. 27), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The closure will last through at least Friday, Sept. 1, while Union Pacific Railroad reconstructs the tracks in conjunction with the Sunnyside Interchange project.

Motorists on Sunnyside are advised to plan alternate routes to avoid the Sunnyside-Yellowstone intersection throughout the week. One alternate will be Professional Way.

Traffic on Yellowstone Highway will travel on one lane in each direction through the intersection. All traffic passing through the Sunnyside-Yellowstone intersection is required to stop.

The three-year, $23 million Sunnyside Interchange project is scheduled for completion this fall. When done, it will connect I-15 to the city of Idaho Falls' Sunnyside Road.
