Guardrail upgrades and repaving on Idaho 52 to begin in mid-August
BOISE— Safety improvements along Idaho 52 in Gem County will begin in mid-August.
The Idaho Transportation Department will be adding retaining walls and upgrading guardrail on both sides of the highway west of Black Canyon Dam to near the end of the reservoir. Crews will also repave portions of the areas where guardrail is being replaced in the seven-mile project area.
During construction, lane restrictions will be in place with temporary signals used at either end of the work zone. Flaggers will also assist motorists. Crews will work during daytime hours, with the potential for some night work.
The project will wrap up in mid-October.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down and pay attention while traveling through the work zone.
Idaho Materials and Construction, of Nampa, is the contractor. The project cost is $1.8 million.
