Delays and closures on Idaho 55 at the Gold Fork River Bridge Tuesday and Wednesday
BOISE-- Early next week crews will transport and place support beams for the Gold Fork River Bridge, just south of Donnelly.
On Tuesday (Aug. 16) and Wednesday (Aug. 17) between midnight and 7 a.m., the Idaho Transportation Department will transport five 155-foot beams from Boise to the Gold Fork River Bridge. Crews will place the beams Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Motorists can expect minor travel delays on Idaho 55 while beams are delivered to the construction site.
• Traffic will be intermittently stopped in both directions for periods of 15 minutes on Idaho 55 while beams are put into place.
• The speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 55 mph.
The Idaho 55 Gold Fork Bridge is being rebuilt because the structure is 65 years old and has outlived its design life. The project includes widening the bridge to include two 12-foot travel lanes (one in each direction) and 10-foot shoulders on each side. The roadway approaches on each side of the bridge will also be repaved.
Concrete Placing Company, Inc. is the contractor for this $3.2 million project.
