Eastern Idaho highway construction report for Aug. 29-Sept. 5
RIGBY - Construction will be suspended on state highway projects in eastern Idaho for the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Traffic control will remain in place, however, on several projects despite the suspension of construction.

Following is the Eastern Idaho highway construction report for Aug. 29-Sept. 5:

I-15, Sunnyside I-15 Interchange to I-15B: The intersection of Sunnyside Road and Yellowstone Highway will be restricted to one lane in each direction with a four-way stop at the intersection. The Sunnyside leg of the intersection will be closed all week but is scheduled to reopen for the weekend. The detour for local traffic is Professional Way. Idaho Construction of Kimberly expects to complete work on the entire $23 million project this fall.

I-15, Osgood Girder Repair:
The northbound lanes of I-15 north of Idaho Falls to Roberts will be closed Tuesday night (Sept. 5), from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday. Traffic will be re-routed at Exit 119 in Idaho Falls to the Lewisville Highway, north to Idaho 48 and back to I-15 at Roberts.

The closure will allow the concrete deck to be poured on the Osgood overpass at milepost 122. One northbound lane of I-15 will remain closed at the Osgood overpass while repairs to the structure are completed. Osgood Road (North Church Farm/49 North Road) over the interstate is closed for the repairs. Alternate routes for local traffic are Exit 119 in Idaho Falls and Payne Road (81st North) about two miles north. Repairs are expected to be completed by the end of September.

U.S. 20/26/93 - Tom Cat Hill East:
The highway through Craters of the Moon National Monument remains under construction, and motorists should expect delays of up to 45 minutes. Traffic is limited to a single lane, guided by pilot car, except at night and on weekends when the highway is open both directions. Western Construction is building a new two-mile alignment of the highway and rebuilding 8.8 miles of the roadway. Work will continue through September.

Idaho 33, Canyon Creek Bridge: Paving is complete on the highway alignment for the new Canyon Creek Bridge on Idaho 33 east of Newdale. The project is being seal-coated this week and is expected to be done by Friday, barring inclement weather. Traffic is reduced to a single lane Mondays through Thursdays during working hours. Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes, and a 12-foot width restriction remains in effect. A 35 mile per hour speed limit is in effect through the work zone.

Approach slabs: Work has started on bridge approach slabs on the Lewisville overpass on U.S. 20 in Idaho Falls. Traffic confined to a single lane. A width restriction of 15 feet is in effect.
