Perrine Bridge lane restrictions expected next week for regular inspection

TWIN FALLS – Drivers can expect lane restrictions across the Perrine Bridge next week for three days of routine bridge-safety inspections. Traffic will be limited to one northbound lane for portions of Monday and Tuesday and one southbound lane Wednesday.

The 40-year-old Perrine Bridge is inspected every 24 months to assess several elements of the structure, including the driving surface, steel superstructure, condition of concrete foundations, roadway approaches and expansion joints.

On Monday (Sept. 12), there will be short-term closures in the northbound lanes throughout the day to allow inspectors to access the bridge arch from the road surface. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the outside lane will be closed, one side each day, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. as inspectors use a reach-all bucket truck to examine the underside of the bridge deck.

Drivers can expect minor congestion and short delays due to the lane restrictions. There will be a 14-foot width restriction in effect during work hours. The pedestrian walk ways will also have restricted use on Tuesday and Wednesday on the corresponding side of the lane closure.

Drivers are urged to be cautious when crossing the bridge, and watch for crew members and equipment. ITD appreciates the patience and cooperation of those driving through the work zone.
