Allowable loads on East Kooskia Bridge reduced to 6,000 lbs. GVW
LEWISTON - Starting this month, the load limit on the narrow, 81-year-old East Kooskia Bridge has been reduced to just 6,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight in the interest of safety.
The 481-foot-long, steel-truss bridge is on the Idaho 13 Business Route, just off U.S. 12.
The primary crossing into Kooskia is located less than a mile and a half downriver of the single-lane, circa-1935 structure at milepost 75.2.
The old bridge has been posted with a load limit continuously since Oct. 2010.
