Gold Fork River Bridge replacement nears completion this week south of Donnelly
BOISE – On Friday (Oct. 14), the Idaho Transportation Department will open the new Gold Fork River Bridge on Idaho 55 south of Donnelly. It replaces the previous bridge built in 1947. The opening is weather-dependent.
Once traffic is switched to the new bridge, construction crews will remove the temporary bridge used during construction. Motorists should expect to see construction activity through late October.

The project includes:
• A single span 151-foot-long bridge which replaced the existing two-span 137-foot-long bridge
• Two 12-foot travel lanes with 10-foot shoulders
• Bridge abutments and roadway slopes to withstand high flows from the Gold Fork River
• Safe and modern guardrail in both directions
• New roadway approaches on each side of the bridge
“The bridge is opening on schedule and under budget,” said ITD District 3 Resident Engineer Bryon Breen. “The design-build firm, Concrete Placing Company, chose to build the temporary bridge which kept traffic moving smoothly through construction. The community benefited from this decision and the project was designed and built in only six months.”
