ITD reminds drivers to be prepared for changing weather conditions, rockslide potential

BOISE - With rain in the forecast across southwest Idaho in the coming days, the Idaho Transportation Department reminds drivers to be aware of the potential for flooding, water over the highways, and rockslides.

Precipitation may come in the form of rain or snow in higher elevations. With those elements, the likelihood of rocks and debris releasing from hillsides is an ever-present concern. Mountainous areas or roads bordered closely by hillsides, particularly those that have no trees, shrubs or vegetation to help anchor rocks, may also be susceptible to loosened soils.

Drivers are encouraged to check the state’s traveler services system at 511.idaho.gov for the latest highway information.
