Free workshop in Boise on Nov. 3 shows how to do business with the government
BOISE - Learn basic guidelines for doing business with the government at a free workshop Thursday (Nov. 3), from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Idaho Transportation Department's Headquarters Auditorium, 3311 W. State St., Boise.

This half-day workshop will provide participants with an overview on bidding with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), requirements for bidding as a federal contractor, and available resources and services, such as free bid-matching and help responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from the Idaho Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). The program will feature presenters from ITD, PTAC, the U.S. Small Business Administration, plus a federal procurement officer from Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Participants will learn how to identify government projects out for bid, required licenses and registrations, and the differences between state and federal contracting.

Other topics to be covered include: the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program; 8(a) Business Development, HUBZone, Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and other business certifications; and where to go for free assistance.
