UPDATE: Largest, most complicated oversized load crosses Memorial Bridge Monday night
LEWISTON - Motorists traveling through Lewiston on U.S. 12 are advised of projected delays during a scheduled move of oversized material during overnight hours tonight (Monday, Nov. 14).
The transporting company Omega Morgan will move a large reactor from the Port of Lewiston, across the Memorial Bridge, to its final destination at the Clearwater Paper Company. The move is scheduled to begin at the port at 11 p.m.
Omega Morgan projects this move could cause delays to traffic on U.S. 12 for up to an hour. Due to the weight of this oversize load, ITD engineers require it to travel down the center of the Memorial Bridge. This will block lanes in both directions. A local detour using the Red Wolf Bridge to the west will be in place from approximately 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
This is one of 13 loads scheduled to be hauled from the port to Clearwater Paper. Two smaller loads were moved Sunday, Nov. 13 and caused short delays of 15-20 minutes. The remaining 10 loads are expected to be like these first two, creating only minimal impedement to traffic.
