Sunnyside closure extended until Sept. 18
RIGBY - Sunnyside Road will remain closed at Yellowstone Highway for another two weeks while the contractor finishes concrete work on the new intersection, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The intersection was closed last week for reconstruction of the crossing by Union Pacific Railroad. The closure has been extended until Sept. 18 for Idaho Construction to work on the intersection as part of the Sunnyside Interchange project.
Motorists on Sunnyside are advised to plan alternate routes to avoid the Sunnyside-Yellowstone intersection. The local detour will be Professional Way.
Traffic on Yellowstone Highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the intersection. All traffic passing through the Sunnyside-Yellowstone intersection is required to stop.
The three-year, $23 million Sunnyside Interchange project is scheduled for completion this fall. When done, it will connect I-15 to Sunnyside Road.
