Inspection of I-90’s Blue Creek Bay Bridges starts Tuesday morning

COEUR d'ALENE - The inspection of the two Blue Creek Bay bridges, eastbound and westbound on Interstate 90 on the east side of Coeur d’Alene, is scheduled to begin tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 29) at 7 a.m. and extend through the end of the week. The deck surface will be inspected to ensure continued safety.

Traffic will be detoured around the bridges during the inspection, which is slated from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph. Although traffic will be limited to one lane in the area (milepost 18-22), only minor delays of up to five minutes are expected. Vehicles will be funneled to the lane furthest from the inspection area.

The westbound bridge was built in 1951, and the eastbound one was built in 1972. The bridges are inspected every 24 months.

Local crews from contractor Parsons Brinkerhoff, Boise, will perform the inspections.
