Public meeting will be held Dec. 14 in Lewiston for U.S.12/21st Street intersection project

LEWISTON - The Idaho Transportation Department is hosting a public meeting Wednesday (Dec. 14) to share information on a new design for the U.S. 12/21st Street intersection in Lewiston. A recent study showed that realigning the intersection would reduce delays, improve traffic flow and sight distance, and reduce the risk of crashes.

The meeting will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Red Lion Clearwater Ballroom (621 21st Street, Lewiston). Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to review potential design plans, speak with project staff and submit written comments.

"Our goal is to improve how the intersection operates," said Curtis Arnzen, a transportation department project development engineer. "The transportation department is committed to working with the community. Please attend the public meeting and give us your comments or suggestions."

Comments from the public meeting will help the department refine a preliminary design for the intersection before beginning final-design plans. Construction is expected to begin in 2019.
