U.S. 12 closing at 9 p.m. tonight for avalanche danger
LEWISTON - The section of U.S. 12 from milepost 126-139 will close again tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 8) at 9 p.m. Pacific Time due to increasing avalanche danger. With more snow, rain and warming temperatures in the forecast, the road will remain closed for several days due to an unstable snowpack.
Electronic message boards will be in place to alert motorists to the impending closure.
Motorists are advised to check 511.idaho.gov for any condition updates. ITD will only reopen the route when it is safe to do so.
