Construction update for eastern Idaho June 1-7
RIGBY - Road construction activity is back in full swing in eastern Idaho after a three-day break for the Memorial Day weekend, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Here is the construction update for eastern Idaho for June 1-7. Work will depend on the weather:
Sunnyside I-15 Interchange to I-15B Traffic on Interstate
15 south of Idaho Falls is one lane in each direction between mileposts 114 and
120 throughout the summer. The speed limit is 55 mph. Work is proceeding on the
Snake River Bridge. Idaho Construction of Kimberly is the contractor for the $21
million project scheduled for completion by fall 2006.
I-15,
breakaway signs, Idaho 33 Interchange to Montana border G.V.
Construction of Garden Valley is replacing signs along the interstate, north-
and southbound, from Roberts to the Montana border. The new signs will break
away when hit by vehicles, reducing injury and property damage in case of an
accident. Motorists are advised to use caution in work
zones.
U.S. 20, Hitt and St. Leon interchanges Access
is closed to and from U.S. 20 north of Idaho Falls to Ucon. Businesses on those
roads can be accessed from county roads. Traffic is one lane in each direction.
The speed limit is 55 mph. Western Construction of Boise is building the $19
million project, which is scheduled for completion by this
fall.
U.S. 20, south of Ashton Traffic is one-lane,
one-way during work hours and controlled by flaggers and pilot cars between
mileposts 353 and 360 south of Ashton on U.S. 20. Motorists should expect delays
up to 15 minutes.
The speed limit is 45 mph. The $1.8 million pavement
rehabilitation is being done by H-K Contractors of Idaho
Falls.
Idaho 33, Canyon Creek Bridge Work has been
suspended on the bridge until the week of June 20. Steel girders will be
delivered starting June 27. The speed limit is 45 mph. Traffic is being routed
over the old bridge throughout construction. The $4.3 million project is
scheduled for completion by fall.
U.S. 93, Arco west
H-K Contractors of Idaho Falls is widening the shoulders of U.S. 93 west of Arco
between mileposts 233 and 246 and has begun paving. The speed limit is 45 mph.
Where one-way travel is required, pilot cars and flaggers will direct
traffic.
U.S. 93, North Fork Bridge to Gibbonsville
Paving is complete on the 11-mile stretch of highway between mileposts 326 and
337. The speed limit remains 55 mph as Western Construction of Boise finishes
work on approaches. Motorists may be delayed up to 15 minutes. Reconstruction
work will be completed this week. The road will be seal coated later this
summer.
Holbrook Road Work began this week on the
permanently closed Holbrook intersection on U.S. 20 south of Rigby. H-K
Contractors will remove asphalt on 200 North east and west of the highway. The
job includes lengthening the southbound on-ramp, building a cul-de-sac east of
the highway, realigning 200 North west of the highway and repairing the existing
overpass.
Pavement striping Work began Wednesday (June
1) to restripe the interstate highways in Districts 5 and 6. Promark Inc. of
Lolo, Mont., is the contractor on the $326,000 project.
