Improvements in Sandpoint from Cedar to Pine to resume April 3
COEUR d'ALENE - Construction in Sandpoint between Cedar and Pine streets is set to resume April 3, if weather allows. It is the continuation of work started last summer and suspended late in the fall as winter weather derailed plans to pave and stripe the highway surface.

The project will turn one-way traffic corridors to two-way streets for better flow of traffic. The last month of work will also include setting new traffic patterns, final signalization, and posting signs.

April 3-7: Work will include striping, signage and signals on 5th Street, which will be converted to two-way traffic heading north and south. 1st Street, Cedar and Pine will be unchanged during this conversion.

April 8-11: Pine between 1st and 5th streets converted to two-way traffic going east and west. Work will also include striping, signage, and signals

April 12-24: Crews will divert all through and truck traffic to from northbound 1st to westbound Pine to northbound 5th. This will allow striping, signage, and signal work from 1st and Pine, to 5th and Cedar. Southbound traffic from 5th to Pine will remain unchanged.

April 25-28: Church Street converted to two-way traffic east and west between 1st and 5th. Through traffic will be diverted one to two blocks at a time. Striping also will occur.

April 28-May 5: This fifth and final phase will complete the northeast corner (intersection of 5th and Pine), returning Pine to one-way traffic between 5th and 4th.

Earthworks Northwest Inc., of Sandpoint, is the contractor on this $2.1 million project.
